01Our Commitment
Access to legal information is a fundamental requirement of access to justice. Abdullah & Partners is committed to ensuring that its digital presence, this website and our mobile application, can be used effectively by people with a wide range of abilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, motor, or neurological disabilities, and by older users whose needs may change over time.
Inclusion Is Part of Our Practice
Accessibility is treated as a design constraint alongside security, performance, and visual quality, not as an after-thought. Every new page and every significant update is built with these standards in mind.
02Conformance Standard
This website targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the international reference standard for digital accessibility and is referenced by Jordanian, European, and United States legal frameworks.
Our conformance target also considers:
- The Jordan Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. 20 of 2017 and the National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities;
- The European Accessibility Act and EN 301 549, for users in the European Economic Area;
- Section 508 of the United States Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), for users in the United States.
03Measures We Take
We take the following measures to support accessibility across our digital platform:
- Accessibility is part of our design and development brief, reviewed at each release;
- Content authors receive guidance on writing in plain language, using descriptive link text, and providing text alternatives for images;
- Automated accessibility testing is integrated into our build pipeline;
- Manual testing with screen readers and keyboard-only navigation is carried out on every major release;
- We consult external accessibility specialists when we substantially redesign the site.
04Features on This Site
Features in place to support accessibility include:
- Semantic HTML5, landmarks, headings, and lists used correctly so assistive technology can present structure;
- Keyboard navigation, every interactive element is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone;
- Visible focus, a high-contrast focus ring follows keyboard users across links, buttons, and form fields;
- Skip link, a "Skip to main content" link is the first element on every page for screen-reader and keyboard users;
- Colour contrast, body text meets the 4.5:1 ratio required by WCAG 2.2 AA; large headings meet the 3:1 ratio for non-text elements;
- Text alternatives, informative images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked aria-hidden;
- Descriptive link text, link text describes the destination without relying on "click here";
- Responsive layout, the layout reflows cleanly down to 320 CSS-pixel viewports without loss of content;
- Motion sensitivity, non-essential animation respects the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query; - ARIA landmarks & states, navigation, menus, and dialogs are marked up with accessible names, roles, and states.
05Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations exist. We are actively working on each of them:
- Archived documents, some PDF documents published before 2024 were not produced to accessibility standards. If you need an accessible version of a legacy document, please contact us and we will provide one.
- Third-party embeds, content embedded from third parties (for example, interactive maps or external video) may not fully match our conformance target. We load such embeds only when you choose to engage with them.
- User-generated content, where content is submitted by a third party (for example, a co-authored insight), we review accessibility on a best-efforts basis.
Report an Issue
If you encounter any barrier while using our website or app, please tell us. Every report is read, logged, and used to improve the platform. We aim to acknowledge reports within 3 working days and to resolve priority issues within 15 working days.
06Compatible Technology
This website is designed to work with recent versions of the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers, JAWS (Windows), NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS & iOS), TalkBack (Android);
- Screen magnifiers, ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom;
- Voice control, Dragon Professional, Voice Control (macOS & iOS), Voice Access (Android);
- Keyboard-only navigation, including sticky keys and switch-based input.
The website is compatible with the latest two major versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Brave on desktop and mobile. Some features may be degraded in older browsers; core content remains available.
07Assessment & Testing
Our approach to accessibility testing combines three layers:
- Automated tooling, every pull request runs axe-core, Lighthouse, and html-validate in the continuous-integration pipeline. Build failures block releases that would regress accessibility.
- Manual review, lead developers test keyboard navigation, screen-reader output, and reduced-motion preferences before every major release.
- External audit, we commission an independent accessibility audit at least once every two years, and more often where we substantially redesign the site.
Audit summaries are available on request.
