The session was held under the youth programming of the Crown Prince Foundation, which works to prepare young people in Jordan for active participation in economic and public life. It brought together university students and young jobseekers at the Business Amphitheatre of Tafileh Technical University.
The Talk
Under the title "Your Rights and Responsibilities: the Legal Framework for Youth in the Labour Market," the talk set out, in practical terms, how Jordanian labour law applies to young people entering employment, the core rights an employee holds, and the obligations that come with a contract of work.
The discussion covered the formation of the employment relationship, the essentials of a written contract, working hours and annual leave, end of service entitlements, and the channels available for resolving workplace disputes under the laws of Jordan.
Labour & Employment at the Firm
Questions of employment rights and obligations sit within the firm's labour and employment practice. Abdullah & Partners advises employers and individuals on contracts of work, end of service entitlements, and the resolution of workplace disputes under Jordanian labour law. More detail is set out on the Labour & Employment practice page.
